How To Fully Trust God

To truly put your trust in God can be difficult. Depending on your walk with God, you might be at the place where you are still not for sure. Uncertainty and challenges you face can make you feel overwhelmed and anxious. And make your faith start to waver. I am writing to those people today.

Psalm 13:5 reminds us, “But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.” This verse expresses the essence of our relationship with God—trusting in His love and salvation. As you continue to read, I encourage each of you to fully trust in God. Do so, no matter the circumstances you face.

Trust In God’s Character

The first point we must understand is that our trust in God is rooted in His character. God is faithful, loving, and unchanging. In Numbers 23:19, we read, “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind.” When we recognize that God’s nature is consistent and trustworthy, we can place our faith in Him without hesitation. His promises are true, and He will never abandon us. Regardless of our sins and being defiant against His word, God’s word remains the same. He is faithful to us at all times. He will never decide to change his promises due to our actions. He is not like us fickle humans. We change our minds like the wind.

Trust In God’s Plan

The second point is trusting in God’s plan for our lives. Jeremiah 29:11 assures us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Even when we can’t see the full picture or understand why certain things happen, we must remember that God has a purpose for every season of our lives. That is when faith comes in. Faith is the light shining through the darkness, leading us to the outcome we cannot see. Trusting in His plan means surrendering our own understanding and believing that He is working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28).

Trust In God’s Timing

Finally, we must trust in God’s timing. Ecclesiastes 3:1 tells us, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” We often want immediate answers or quick resolutions to our problems, but God’s timing is perfect. In Psalm 27:14, we are encouraged to “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” Trusting in His timing requires patience and faith that He knows what is best for us. How many times have you messed up  something because you were just too quick to jump into action? Instead of going about it step-by-step, we skip over some things only having to start all over again. We jump ahead of ourselves instead of waiting on God’s perfect timing.

When we trust in God’s character, His plan, and His timing—we are reminded that our trust is not misplaced. Psalm 13:5 calls us to rejoice in His unfailing love and salvation. Let us commit ourselves to fully trust in God. We know that He is always with us. He guides us through every trial and triumph.
