I want to approach a reality that many of us face but often overlook—the spiritual attacks from our enemy, Satan. In 1 Peter 5:8-9, we are reminded, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith.” This scripture not only warns us of the enemy’s tactics but also empowers us with the knowledge of how to stand firm against these attacks. Today, we will explore how to survive spiritual attacks and fight back against the enemy.
Be Alert and Aware
The first step in surviving spiritual attacks is to be alert and aware of the enemy’s schemes.
Ephesians 6:11 tells us, “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
We must recognize that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces (Ephesians 6:12). By being vigilant and discerning, we can identify when the enemy is trying to infiltrate our thoughts, relationships, and lives.
The enemy does not want your marriage, friendships, your mansion on the hill. He wants your faith. He wants your trust in God. He will attack you every which way but up just to weaken or take away your faith.

Stand Firm in Faith
Second is to stand firm in your faith.
1 Corinthians 16:13, we are instructed to “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”
Our faith is our greatest weapon against the enemy. When we are rooted in God’s Word and His promises, we can withstand the fiery darts of doubt and fear that Satan throws our way (Ephesians 6:16). Remember, faith is not just a feeling; it is a choice to trust God even when circumstances seem dire.
In the darkest of times, when it feels like the hardships will never end, holding onto unwavering faith can seem almost impossible. The enemy thrives on these moments of doubt. He eagerly waits for you to stop loving God with all your heart, soul, and mind. He watches intently, ready to claim another lost soul, another precious sheep that has strayed from the comforting embrace of God’s guidance.
Resist The Devil
Finally, we must actively resist the devil.
James 4:7 encourages us, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
This resistance involves prayer, worship, and declaring God’s truth over our lives. Resisting the enemy is never passive. When you are passive you are just letting the enemy have his way in your life. We have to arm ourselves daily with God’s presence. When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, He responded with Scripture (Matthew 4:1-11). We too must arm ourselves with the Word of God to combat lies and temptations.

Let’s remember that spiritual attacks are a part of our Christian journey. However, we are not left defenseless. By being alert, standing firm in our faith, and actively resisting the devil, we can fight back against the enemy’s schemes. Let us take heart in knowing that we have the victory through Christ Jesus who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).
